Maggy Simony is 89 and, she believes,
living witness to the benefits of playing bridge and
staying mentally active. She is widowed, with three
children, six grandchildren, living independently in
Florida, after almost twenty years of living in New
Hampshire. Other hobbies than writing Bridge Table, are
hanging out at libraries, politics (a “junkie”), reading,
cooking and cookbooks, occasional beachwalking. She worked
as a court stenographer during WWII, and much later as a
school secretary in Bayport, N.Y.
In
the 1980s, retired, she typeset books for independent
publishers, and also wrote and published
Traveler’s Reading Guide—Ready-made
Reading Lists for the Armchair Traveler and later edited
two updated editions of the book for Facts on File.
Education? Maggy quotes Ray Bradbury in reply—“I never
went to college, I went to the library.”
